Historic Map Pack No. 1: Art, Maps, and Momentum

Work continued on the Historic Map Pack this week. I managed a few solo plays across all four maps, and aside from a few track cost tweaks, the system continues to hold strong. Real-world maps are easier to balance since prior designers have already done the heavy lifting - track lengths, city density, and terrain tend to fall into place naturally. My role is layering in Rust & Revenue’s flavor and fine-tuning company powers for each region, which still takes time but feels rewarding.

I also took a side tour to finalize the expansion’s cover art. The maps themselves are brighter and more modern in tone, while the cover leans darker, with a new Wall Street motif drawn from the Panic of 1907. It fits the expansion’s focus on finance and history-and matches the signature diagonal “swish” of the original game. My likeness remains, slightly warmer, integrated into the new palette. This release won’t need a clamshell since it’s just maps, cards, and rules, but the printed cover and back will look sharp on the shelf and align cleanly with the base game’s aesthetic.  I took time to see what it would look like in a clamshell anyways and it didn't disappoint.

If all stays on track, the PNP release should land the first week of December. I considered a Black Friday drop (more capitalism!) but decided to give everything a proper polish. A limited physical run will follow, available first through my site before reaching retail. With luck, the existing store copies will have turned over by then-but as always, that’s out of my hands.

Thanks again for all the support. The response to Rust & Revenue has far exceeded expectations, and I can’t wait to share the next chapter. To quote every mom with dinner on the stove:

It’ll be ready when it’s ready.

All the best,
Jack
