Rust and Revenue
A downloadable game
Rust and Revenue is a compact solo roll-and-write game inspired by classic 18XX railroad and economic games. Using four dice, a pencil, and a single printed sheet, players invest in railroads, build track, buy shares, and manage the relentless rusting of trains. Each turn, dice rolls determine available actions, forcing tough strategic choices about company expansion, share valuation, and route development.
The game distills the tension and depth of larger railroad games into a streamlined solitaire experience, providing meaningful decision-making and replayability in under an hour. With multiple procedural maps and straightforward AI opponents, Rust and Revenue blends accessible mechanics and thematic depth, capturing the spirit of 18XX and cube-rail classics in a fresh, minimalist design.

Thank you for this, Jack! I just looked at the v1.0.2a rules update, and noticed that you updated Reginald’s 1st “based on Service Capacity” Operations Task bullet to “Service Capacity < # of Connected Stops…” I believe the 2nd bullet also needs to be updated, either by changing “>=“ to “<=“ or, as I would recommend, changing the order of the values being compared. Using “Service Capacity >= # of Connected Stops: Build Track…” would make a clearer distinction by placing the compared values in the same order as the previous bullet.
Looks like I need a 1.0.2b!
I will post a fix tonight. Thanks for the catch!
Proofreading is not my strong suit. :)
No problem! One other question - does the Company 1 special extra Operation only apply when the player fills in the 1st/3rd/5th Maintenance bubble? What about Reginald? I know that Xavier’s stock purchases do not trigger the special power, as no bubbles are filled in, but I’m not sure about Reginald’s actions, since the special power is only mentioned under the Player turn section. Just want to make sure!
Hello! Reginald gets the bump as well.
I will have to add it to the FAQ before I do another modest rulebook post. The game page at BGG has some rule threads as well and I tried putting more of a living thread there as well.

Just a heads up that 1.0.2b is here on the site. Thanks much!
Thank you!
This looks really interesting! I've just bought a copy and I'll take it with me when I go camping. Thanks for making it!
That's awesome! Pack a dice tray and take some pics! :). Reach out for any questions.
(Edit: And forgot the important part - You're welcome. :) )
