Historic Map Preview - Southeast USA
Today I am sharing the Southeast USA map for Rust & Revenue. This is the first of the historical maps and it introduces new wrinkles to the game. The map highlights ACL, SAL, Southern, L&N, and GM&O. Shortlines appear as claimable rights of way that provide revenue access but never expansion. There is also a public corridor between Atlanta and Birmingham that anyone may use, reflecting the historic West Point Route.
This map plays with more nuance than the base game. Atlanta functions as a reverse terminus, New Orleans matters as a southern pivot, and shortlines give you hard choices about when to trade shares for access. No company has an easy path and the obvious moves are not always the best ones.
I had time to create a quick designer video to go over my thought process for this new map. A round 1 playthrough is being processed by YouTube now and will be up by mid-day Sunday. First video is here. Rough playthrough of the first round is here
Housekeeping note: the next game download will be available next Monday instead of Sunday.
I want to thank everyone for the support the game has received. It was unexpected and has encouraged me to keep working on more maps and content in the year ahead. I am grateful for every play, comment, and share. Thank you and happy railroading!
